Hi Parents of F101!
There will be some changes in our weekly homework.
On Wednesdays, students will now be taking home their Guided Writing Notebook. You may use the topics given or think of a topic for your child to write about. Please encourage your child to use their convention and skills, sound out words, and write neatly. We encourage your child to sound out the words instead of telling them the correct spelling. This will help them to listen to their sounds and write the letter that makes that sound. You may write the correct spelling underneath their word.
On Thursdays, students will be taking home their "I Can Read" Folder. Please listen to your child as they read. Listen for fluency and help them sound out words they may not know. Some reading strategies were provided in the folder to help your child. These are the same reading strategies we are using in class. There are some comprehension questions in the folder as well. Please ask your child these questions before, during, and after they read the story. Don't forget to log down the book they have read and check off if your child has mastered the book or needs it to be sent home again.
Thank you for all your help and support!
